Indulge in homemade perfection with these easy-to-follow steps for making glossy, delicious Chocolate Covered Strawberries. They’re simple to prepare and offer a gourmet treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (about 24 large) fresh strawberries, ripe and firm
- 10–12 oz (280-340g) high-quality chocolate (dark, milk, or white), chopped or in wafers
- Optional: 1/2 tsp (about 2g) unsalted butter, shortening, or coconut oil (per cup of chocolate)
- Optional Toppings: Finely chopped nuts, sprinkles, shredded coconut, or contrasting melted chocolate for drizzling
Instructions
- 1. Prepare Strawberries: Gently wash strawberries and pat them thoroughly dry with paper towels. Let them air dry a bit more if needed to ensure no moisture remains. Keep stems intact.
- 2. Melt Chocolate: Chop chocolate into small pieces. Melt using a double boiler method (bowl over simmering water) or in the microwave (50% power, 30-second intervals, stirring). Stir in optional butter/shortening/coconut oil until smooth.
- 3. Dip Strawberries: Hold a strawberry by its stem. Dip into the melted chocolate, coating about two-thirds to three-quarters. Gently tap off excess chocolate against the bowl’s rim.
- 4. Add Toppings (Optional): If using toppings, sprinkle them onto the wet chocolate immediately after dipping each strawberry.
- 5. Set Chocolate: Place dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Refrigerate for 15-30 minutes, or until the chocolate is fully set and firm to the touch. Serve chilled and enjoy within 1-2 days.
