- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- For the Glaze:
- 1 ¾ cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 3–4 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
- Purple, green, and gold colored sugars, for decorating
Instructions
- 1. Prep & Whisk Dry: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom.
- 2. Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- 3. Add Eggs & Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract. Scrape down bowl sides.
- 4. Combine: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing on low speed until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5. Chill Dough: Cover dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours).
- 6. Scoop & Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are lightly golden and centers are just set. Cool on sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- 7. Make Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons milk until smooth and pourable.
- 8. Decorate: Once cookies are completely cool, drizzle glaze over tops. Immediately sprinkle with colored sugars. Let glaze set completely before storing.
