Description
Unlock the ultimate comfort food with this incredibly easy and delicious Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese recipe. The sweet, soft rolls get perfectly crisp, creating a delightful contrast to the gooey, melted cheese inside.
Ingredients
- Hawaiian sweet rolls (slider size or dinner rolls)
- Cheese slices or shredded cheese (e.g., cheddar, Monterey Jack, provolone, or a blend)
- Unsalted butter, softened at room temperature (or mayonnaise for crispier crust)
- Optional: Garlic powder, onion powder (for extra flavor)
Instructions
- Split Hawaiian rolls horizontally. Don’t cut completely through if you want a hinged sandwich.
- Spread a thin, even layer of softened butter (or mayonnaise) on the outside of each roll half.
- In a non-stick skillet or griddle set over medium-low heat, place one buttered roll half face down.
- Immediately place a generous amount of cheese on the roll half in the pan, then top with the other buttered roll half, butter-side up.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until both sides are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted and gooey. Gently press down with a spatula occasionally to ensure good contact and even melting.
- Remove from pan and serve hot immediately.
