Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (14.3 oz) package Golden Oreo Cookies (or Original Oreos)
- 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon butter extract
- ½ teaspoon almond extract
- 18 oz good quality white chocolate melting wafers or candy melts, divided
- Gel food coloring (purple, green, gold/yellow)
- Mardi Gras sprinkles (optional)
- ½ tsp coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)
Instructions
- 1. Prep Ingredients & Line Baking Sheet: Have all ingredients at room temperature. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- 2. Crush Oreos: In a food processor, finely crush Oreo cookies (including cream filling) until they resemble fine sand.
- 3. Mix Truffle Filling: In a large bowl, combine crushed Oreos, softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter extract, and almond extract. Mix until a firm, uniform dough forms.
- 4. Chill Dough: Cover and refrigerate the truffle dough for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- 5. Roll Truffles: Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and roll smoothly between palms. Place on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 15-20 minutes.
- 6. Melt & Color Chocolate: Divide white chocolate into three bowls. Melt each portion separately in 30-second intervals, stirring. Tint bowls with purple, green, and gold gel food coloring. Thin with a little coconut oil/shortening if needed.
- 7. Dip & Decorate: Dip chilled truffles into colored chocolate, tapping off excess. Immediately place on parchment and sprinkle with Mardi Gras sprinkles. Repeat with remaining truffles and colors.
- 8. Chill to Set: Refrigerate truffles until chocolate is completely set (15-20 minutes). Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
