  • 1 cup fresh or partially thawed frozen strawberries, hulled
  • 1/2 cup whole milk or preferred dairy/non-dairy alternative
  • 23 tablespoons granulated sugar, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup ice cubes (smaller cubes blend better)
  • Optional: 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum (for thickener)
  • Optional: Whipped cream and a fresh strawberry slice for topping

Instructions

  • 1. Prep Your Strawberries: Hull and wash fresh strawberries. If using frozen, let them soften slightly.
  • 2. Combine & Blend: In a high-speed blender, add milk, strawberries, sugar, vanilla extract, then ice cubes.
  • 3. Blend Until Smooth: Start on low, then increase to high, blending until completely smooth and thick. Use a tamper if needed to get rid of ice chunks.
  • 4. Adjust Consistency: If too thick, add milk 1 tbsp at a time. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes.
  • 5. Taste & Sweeten: Taste and add more sugar if desired, blending briefly to combine.
  • 6. Serve & Top: Pour into a tall glass, top with whipped cream and a strawberry slice, and serve immediately.
