- 6 cups graham cracker-flavored cereal (like Golden Grahams)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (for melting into sauce, optional)
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows
- 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark, for adding after baking)
- Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup small pretzels or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a very large bowl, combine cereal and any optional dry add-ins (e.g., pretzels).
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, vanilla, and salt. Cook 2-3 minutes, until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. If using, stir in 1/4 cup chocolate chips until melted.
- Pour butter-sugar mixture over cereal. Toss gently until evenly coated.
- Spread mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, stir, then sprinkle marshmallows over the top. Return to oven and bake for another 5-8 minutes, or until marshmallows are puffed and lightly golden.
- Immediately remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining 1 cup chocolate chips. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then gently stir to soften.
- Allow to cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking into clusters and serving.
