- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar, plus more for dusting
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- Vegetable oil or avocado oil, for frying
Instructions
- Wash, core, and slice apples into 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick fry-like sticks.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually add milk to the dry ingredients, whisking until a smooth batter forms.
- Dip apple slices into the batter, ensuring each piece is evenly coated; let excess drip off.
- Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350-375°F (175-190°C).
- Fry apple fries in small batches for 2-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on paper towels, and immediately dust generously with additional sugar and cinnamon.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
