Description

A delightful and easy-to-make Classic Pea Salad packed with tender peas, crispy bacon, sharp cheddar, and a creamy, tangy dressing. Perfect as a side dish for any occasion.

  • 16 oz (450g) frozen green peas, thawed
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup finely diced red onion
  • 4 oz (115g) sharp cheddar cheese, cubed or shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  • Thaw the frozen green peas under cold running water or in the refrigerator. Drain thoroughly.
  • Cook the bacon in a skillet until crispy. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  • Finely dice the red onion and cube the cheddar cheese.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream (or Greek yogurt), sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Add the thawed peas, crumbled bacon, diced red onion, and cubed cheddar cheese to the dressing. Gently fold until all ingredients are well coated.
  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2-3 hours, allowing the flavors to meld before serving.
