- 1–2 black tea bags or 1-2 tsp loose leaf black tea (Assam or Ceylon recommended)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1–2 cinnamon sticks
- Zest of 1/2 a medium orange (about 1–2 tsp)
- 1/2 – 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, e.g., oat, whole)
- 1–2 tsp sweetener (maple syrup, honey, or sugar), to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Tea Base: Steep black tea in 1 cup of boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags/infuser.
- Infuse Flavors: Add cinnamon sticks and orange zest to the steeped tea. Gently simmer over medium-low heat for 5-7 minutes to infuse.
- Add Milk & Sweetener: Stir in milk and heat until steamy, but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in sweetener to taste.
- Strain & Serve: Strain the milk tea into a mug, discarding solids. Enjoy hot. For iced, cool and pour over ice.
